“League of Legends” mobile game has been downloaded 12 million times since its launch, and revenue has exceeded 10 million US dollars.
After being launched in Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia on October 27, the highly anticipated “League of Legends” mobile game landed on app stores in Taiwan, Vietnam, Oceania, Europe, and Middle East and North Africa on December 8 and 10. Sensor Tower store intelligence platform shows that as of December 16, the game has been downloaded 12.5 million times in the global App Store and Google Play, attracting $10.5 million.
Among the regions where the “League of Legends” mobile game has been launched, the top five markets for downloads in the first week are Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, Turkey, and Russia, among which Vietnam and Indonesia have both nearly 700,000 download times. In Japan, the game has been topped the App Store mobile game download list for a week; in South Korea, it ranked first on both mobile game download list of Google and iOS for 16 days. In the six Southeast Asian countries, the game has stayed at the top of the App Store mobile game download list for more than 8 days, and stayed at the top 3 of the Google Play mobile game download list for more than 9 days.
In the first-week revenue , the top five markets were Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Thailand and Germany. The revenue from Taiwan, China is more than US$560,000, and the average payment per download is US$3.2, which is significantly ahead of South Korea (US$1.4) and Japan (US$1). Although the game is still in the open beta stage, Asian players have shown greater enthusiasm for in-game spending than players in Europe and the Middle East.
In the publicly tested market, the top three countries in terms of cumulative downloads are Indonesia, the Philippines, and South Korea, which account for 12.4%, 11.7%, and 11.4% of the total downloads; the top three countries in terms of revenue are South Korea, Thailand, and Japan, respectively Accounted for 19.7%, 12.2% and 9.6% of total revenue.
In terms of platform, downloads from Google Play exceeded 7.6 million, accounting for 61%, and downloads from the Apple App Store accounted for 39%. In terms of revenue, Google Play also leads, contributing more than 6.8 million US dollars, accounting for 65%, and Apple’s App Store accounting for 35% of revenue.
