Mobile Game Market in Hong Kong and Taiwan in Q3 2020-Revenue hits a record high of US$800 million, a year-on-year increase of 29%
The latest data from Sensor Tower’s store intel shows that in 2020 Q3, Hong Kong and Taiwan, China’s mobile game revenue is nearly 800 million US dollars, an increase of 29% year-on-year, a record high.

The scale of the mobile game market in Hong Kong and Taiwan
The traditional Chinese market represented by Hong Kong and Taiwan, has always been a strategic target for Chinese manufacturers, and they have maintained steady growth in the past six years. In Q3 of 2020, the total revenue of App Store and Google Play mobile games in Hong Kong&Taiwan is nearly 800 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 29% and a month-on-month increase of 6.5%.
The total mobile games revenue of Taiwan, China in Q3 reached 550 million, a share of 68.8% of total Traditional Chinese market. In the increasing speed it also ahead the Hongking market, reaching 31%.

From the distribution of overseas revenue side, the Tradition Chinese markets represented by Taiwan, Hongkong and Macao, China, have a share of 4.7% in the total oversea App store and Google Play mobile revenue, which is also equal to the combination of German and France markets. However, the total population of the three region is only 1/5 of the latter two.

Hot mobile games in Hongkong and Taiwan
Similar to Asian mobile game markets, RPG is also the most popular game in these two areas, accounting 56% of the total mobile game revenue, among which the Slam Dunk released in May this year of DeNA has a revenue of 32 million US dollars and topped the list.
Due to the long-accumulated influence of IPs, the players in Hongkong and Taiwan are more likely to pay for the games that are adopted from Japan and Korean server or Anime.
However, Chinese game manufacturers broke in with innovative genre and gameplay.
